CareWorks USA
Independent Medical Exams (IMEs)

CareWorks USA understands that IMEs are used in adversarial hearings. Objective findings are what you need. Our guidelines ensure credible IME outcomes for our clients:

  • IME appointment promptly coordinated within 48 hours of receipt of referral.
  • Designated Registered Nurses (RNs) review medical history, clearly outlining the goals of your IME.
  • You approve the IME letter prior to it being sent out to a physician, ensuring all appropriate issues and opinions are addressed.
  • Access to a national network of IME physicians for exams and file reviews.
  • Panel of more than 350 doctors representing all specialties (orthopedic, psychiatry, neurology, chiropractic and others).
  • Employee is notified via certified and regular mail, helping ensure delivery confirmation of appointment information.
  • Confirmation of attendance at IME appointment, including rescheduling when necessary.
  • Telephonic follow-up to ensure prompt receipt of IME Report.
  • Designated RNs conduct Quality Assurance Reviews of all IME Reports, ensuring questions and issues have been addressed, certainty of opinions clarified and basis for opinions provided.
  • Saves the employer account time and administrative costs in setting up an IME. Employers can request that a Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) be conducted in conjunction with an IME, if desired.
  • Email IME referrals to CWUSAIME@careworks.com or to your Account Manager.
